Film Poster Analysis
Genre
The genre of the film is Action. Although its not horror, if children were watching this film then they would find it scary as it is an under 12 film.
Genre Conventions
The genre convention is, you have two people face to face with the weapon in the middle of them which is a wand, and you know that one of them is going to die as there is blood splattered on the poster.
Conventions of the form
The conventions of the form used are;
Mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scene the location is outside as you can see the fog in the background which creates as mysterious effect. The lighting is shot in the middle of the two people and there is a wispy glow wrapping itself around the wand which makes it look magical. The make-up on voldemort is extremely good as he represents a snake as he can speak parseltongue so they have given him slits for a nose, watery glazed over eyes and no lips.
Symbols
The symbols used in the poster is the wand as the wands are a huge part in harry potter and you do need foreknowledge to know about the wands as if you hadn't read the books or seen the rest of the movies then you wouldn't know the importance of the wands. Also the poster hasn't got a title this has been very cleverly done as nearly everybody has seen harry potter so when they glance at the poster and see Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, the wand and lord voldemort then you automatically know that it is the harry potter movie.
The Main Figures
The main figures are Harry, the elder wand and Lord Voldemort. They are represented photographically as they are the main characters because its the last movie so there making eye contact because one of them is going to use that wand to kill the other but you don't know who's holding that wand so you have to watch the movie to find out.
The Layout
The layout of the poster plays a big part in the poster as they could of had Harry and Hagrid having a nice chat on the poster but they chose Harry and Voldemort as they are going to have a huge battle.
The Typeface
The type face is times new roman they have used this as it is simple yet effective and they have put it quite small as the main thing on the poster is the characters.
Visual Camera Techniques
The visual camera techniques used are
The Message
The message on the poster is mainly visual as you only have the sentence 'it all ends 7.15' and the rest of the poster is Harry and Voldemort. therefore it is mostly visual as harry and voldemort are well known characters.
The Audience
The audience for this poster are people that have read the books or have seen the other 6 movies as if you wen to see this movie without seeing the others then you wouldn't understand what's going on. people that watch it could be teenagers to adults.
Persuasive Techniques
Persuasive techniques used on the poster are knowing that because Harry and Voldemort are faced head to head then you know that they are going to have a fight so you want to watch the last movie as you want to see who wins and who falls.
USP
The unique selling point is wanting to see who wins the final battle between Harry and Lord Voldemort in the last movie.
